Public Speaking (and much more!)
In the era of continuous collaboration and globally distributed teams, I believe being able to articulate ideas, communicate confidently and empower people through empathy are all critical skills. I built these skills during my time as a member of Toastmasters International, the not - for - profit organization dedicated to helping people build their public speaking and leadership skills.
Competitive public speaking
These are trophies I’ve won from competitive speaking contests at Toastmasters International. While the trophies are many, I’m most proud of these accomplishments :
Finished 2nd at the Division D (District 120)* Evaluation speech contest in 2021 - 2022
Finished 2nd at the Division D (District 120)* Table Topics speech contest in 2021 - 2022
*A Division in Toastmasters is comprised of around 300 members, from approximately 15 clubs situated close to each other. District 120 comprises all Toastmasters clubs in Tamil Nadu, India
Communication
I am certified by Toastmasters International in the Visionary Communication Learning Pathway - comprising of 15 projects (each involving the delivery of a 5 to 7 minute speech) which helped me build skills as a strategic communicator and leader.
Leadership
I served as President of a leading Toastmasters club, serving 39 members. I led a team of 6 Club Executive committee officers, responsible for all areas of club management - including member acquisition, budgeting and educational programs. Over the course of my six month tenure, we delivered quality meeting experiences, resulting in 100% member retention.
In past terms, I served as Club Secretary, Vice - President Membership and Vice - President Education.
